The start of the Wilson Hill Academy school year is just around the corner. With just under a week until classes start, I thought now would be a good time to share why I chose to take classes with WHA.
My Experience
This is going to be my third year taking classes with WHA. Each year so far I have taken two classes. In ninth grade, these were physics and The Great Conversation III. In my sophomore year, I took Chemistry and The Great Conversation IV. This year, I am taking AP Biology and AP Latin. Next year, I plan on taking AP Art History and Modern Literature and Thought, which follows a similar premise to The Great Conversations series. I have loved every WHA class I have ever taken, and I’ve had only good experiences.
The Teachers
I’ve taken (or am taking) online and/or in-person classes through many different providers, including Memoria Academy, co-ops, and colleges. While some of these classes were great, the teachers were just not the same as the teachers from Wilson Hill. Every teacher I have had through WHA has been a master teacher. They know their subject area well, and how to use all the technology associated with online classes. Not only that, they care about each of us and our progress in the course. They do whatever they can to help us truly understand the subject and go above and beyond a base level of knowledge. They also pray before every class, which I love.
The Quality of Classes
The curriculum for each class at Wilson Hill is specifically chosen to support the classical, Christian model. Every class is online, and most are 1.5 hours twice a week. At WHA, nothing is due on a Sunday because the teachers want to emphasize that they don’t expect students to do work then. The live class sessions are also amazing. They are very discussion-based, even in classes like math and science, and they focus on mastery, not just learning the material. They are never simply lectures. The courses are all taught from a Christian worldview, but they don’t shelter students from our culture. The teachers lead students in learning how a Christian worldview applies to every subject and how that compares to the common view on that topic.
The Students
The students at Wilson Hill are a wonderful group of people. The classmates I have had have all been amazing, and they are all so dedicated to learning. Each class is interactive, and students are always participating on mic and in the chat box. I also participate in the House system and Junior Classical League. The less formal meetings with other students are always a lot of fun. As I’ve gotten to know other WHA students, I’ve loved the community more and more.
All my favorite high school classes have come from Wilson Hill Academy. The teachers, class material, and students are all truly wonderful and I have loved my experience so far and am excited for my next two years with them.

Thank you! I’m so glad to have found WHA, and it’s great to meet others who feel the same way!
